In the field of ceramic forming, it is important for mass-production using extrusion process to control the plasticity of ceramic paste composed of powder, organic binder and solvent. However, since the plasticity of ceramic paste has been evaluated empirically and qualitatively, the mechanism of plasticity has not been elucidated scientifically. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the quantitative evaluation methods and the mechanism of plasticity. The plasticity is caused by interaction between particles and organic binder. From the viewpoints of the interaction between particles, we carried out the study of quantitative evaluation and the development of paste with controlled plasticity by a use of colloid probe and rheological methods.
