Spray dryers are used in various fields because they have the advantage of being able to produce powder that is easy to handle. It is said that the narrow particle size distribution of powder is preferable in industrial manufacturing. Rotary disks are frequently used because it is said to be able to produce powders with the narrowest particle size distribution for liquid atomization. On a rotary disk, large particles are generated from a thick liquid film of raw material, and small particles are generated from a thin liquid film. So, it is important to form a uniform liquid film on the disk for narrowing the particle diameter distribution. Atomization process by the method of conventional supplying liquid raw material is shown below. 1 Supply the liquid raw material onto the disk. 2 Liquid film is formed by being stretched on the disk. 3 Droplets are generated by splitting the liquid film. In the supply state of the liquid raw material of the conventional device, it was difficult to form a uniform liquid film due to biased liquid supply. In the new atomization device, the liquid raw material is supplied on the disk as air-liquid mixed flow. By using such a new supply method, it was confirmed that liquid film on the disk became uniform and the particle size distribution of the product was narrow.
