The authors improved a manufacturing process of filtration medium to clean used water. The process includes a pan type pelletizer and a rotary kiln which may permit mass production and low fuel consumption. The main ingredient is a clay consisted of 60-65wt. SiO2%, 17-20% Al2O3 and remaining flux components (Fe2O3, CaO, MgO, K2O and Na2O). The porous structure necessary to keep high quality as a filtration medium is given by adding saw dust. The sample produced by a laboratory plant was subjected to a series of quality test and compared with articles in market. The result was quite satisfactory, and the cost estimated with the proposed process was also moderate.
