Continuous separation of spherical and non-spherical particles was carried out using a rotating conical disk with a logarithmic spiral scraper under various operating conditions, and the separation characteristics of the device were investigated.
It was concluded that effective separation was observed by the device developed in the present work, and that under lower rotational speeds of the disk the separation efficiency was mainly controlled by the followng factors:
(1) the number of non-spherical particles hindering the separation of spherical particles at the end point of the separating zone along the scraper (Nθc)
(2) the length of the separating zone (s)
(3) the sliding characteristics of non-spherical particles on the surface of the disk (m).
