A method to predict the filtration characteristics of body filtration was investigated. The compression permeability data (c. p. data) of a mixed slurry of filter aid and solid impurity was first calculated from a modified Tokumitsu's equation and from an analytical equation for estimating the local specific filtration resistance on the basis of the c. p. data of each component. Then, the filtration characteristics of the mixed slurry were predicted according to the modern filtration theory by using the predicted c. p. data. The validity of the calculation method was examined by comparing the experimental filtration characteristics with the model predictions. The presented method proved to be useful in the region rich in solid impurity, while a noticeable difference between the calculated and measured values in Ruth's filtration coefficient appeared in the region rich in filter aid.
