After the Great East Japan Earthquake, in the disaster area, thirty emergency-broadcast FM stations had started. The main objective of the study is to obtain the knowledge of the functions of these “community FM radio”. We have focused on the two radio stations. As a result of study, we have recognized three functions, such as the function of broadcasting detailed information to the sufferers, the function of circulating information among community, and the function of reducing anxiety of the sufferers.
