We investigated adsorption configurations of organic molecules using atomic force microscopy (AFM) imaging and force spectroscopy. A conventional cantilever-based AFM revealed structures of fullerene and pentacene adsorbed on anatase titanium dioxide. An AFM with a sensor based on a quatz resonator was successfully used to track structural transformation of porphycene molecules adsorbed on silver and NaCl thin films. We also discuss advantages and disadvantages of above two methods.
