Generally, longer fatigue cracks in steel bridges are repaired by stop-holes and patch plates. However, the effect of reduction of stress concentrate at stop-holes with patch plates is not clearly known. In this study, the equation of axial force in steel plate where the crack covered by the patch plates was proposed. Additionally, the stress at stop-holes edge repaired by the patch plates was estimated. Finally, the proposed method was verified by the tensile tests of steel plate with stop-holes repaired by patch plates.
