Date of correction: February 29, 2008 Reason for correction: - Correction: ABSTRACT Details: Wrong : The presence of carotenoids from the gonad of scallops, Patinopecten yessoensis was investigated.
The following five carotenoids were identified as free form: pectenolone (73.0%), pectenoxanthin (13.0)%, diatoxanthin (9.0)%, a new carotenoid, 3, 4, 3′-trihydroxy-7′, 8′-didehydro-β-carotene (3.5%), and astaxanthin (1.0%).
This is the first example of reporting the isolation of pectenolone in free form.
