We have studied on the health effect of air pollution in Yokkaichi area. The survey was carried out on the numder of cases appeared in the file of, National Health Insurance Billing Cards from April 1961 to March 1965.
The annual prevalences of common cold including bronchitis and eye diseases among total population enlisted in N. H. I, laryngopharyngitis among the age-group less than4 years old and bronchial asthma among over 50 years old are obiously correlated with the degree of air pollution.
The prevalences of these diseases are more highly correlated with the amount of sulphur dioxide than that of dustfall.
The monthly prevalence of bronchial asthma among the age-group over 50 years old increased from Autumn of 1961 in polluted area, and a significant difference wasnoticed between polluted area and non-polluted.
