Abstract

A 36-year-old woman was suffered from right hypochondrial pain which lasted for several days and consulted to our hospital. US showed septations classified into various sizes in the gallbladder lumen. Abdominal contrast enhanced CT showed multiple thin septa in the entire area of the gallbladder, which extended in various directions and were more strongly enhanced than the gallbladder wall. EUS showed relatively thin and uniformly thick septations in the gallbladder lumen, but no nodule or mass, nor was there any thickening of the gallbladder wall or dilated Rokitansky-Aschoff sinus. From image findings, it was diagnosed with multiseptate gallbladder and laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed. In the macroscopic findings, numerous septa were shown in the lumen. In the histopathological images, septa were covered by columnar epithelium and muscularis propria in the gallbladder wall leaded to septa. The diagnosis was multiseptate gallbladder. In this study, we report on the clinical features and surgical indications of multiseptate gallbladder, along with some literature review.
