An electrode-grade polycrystalline graphite material, G151A, was used for impact test by a 4mm-diameter sphere made of Mn-Zn ferrite or steel. The impact velocity was 900m/s to 1700m/s. Influence of specimen thickness and projectile material on the initiated crater and spalling was investigated in this study. Material and thickness did not affect crater volume. However, crater area by Mn-Zn ferrite was larger than that by steel at the same kinetic energy. The spall area and the depth were almost constant in all the thicknesses when the material spalled.
