From the geological consideration and also from the observation of the periodic law of elements the author presumed the existence of cobalt and nickel in the iron sand, and investigated them by chemieal analysis.
The existence of eobalt was proved at first by quantitatively and nickel was subsequently proved by qualitatively.
It is a very interesting fact that the elements unknown in the iron sand were presumed from the table of the periodic system.
