The substitute fuel is one of the most remarkable problem since the occurrence of the China Incident. Interests in gasoline is especially great and those who use trucks for the transportation of materials should meet some adequate means on account of the control of the gasoline consumption. As the Yawata Iron Works, have used trucks for the transportation of light weights at short distance, they have paid some attention to some counter means, in view of selfsupplying the automobile fuels. They began to built a plant equipped with a gas compressor of 300 atm., 80m3/h and accessories. As soon as part of the equipment was ready, they commenced the operation since July 1, Showa-15 (1938). At present 45% of the total number of trucks were operated by gas. The plant is now planned for extension. They are intending to utilize gas for not only automobiles and trucks, but for motor boats, autorear-cars, in order to expel the gasoline consumption.
