he relation between the crystalline structure and the degree of cold working was investigated with the imported piano wires of excellent quality and those furnished by a Japanese factory. The size, the degree of fibrous arrangement and the internal strain of grains in the specimens plastically deformed in various grades were measured by means of X-rays. Then the density of specimens which had been cold worked differently was measured precisely and their heat treatment was examined. From the result of the measurement, a comparison between the excellent imported wires and those furnished by Japanese factory was made.
