Abstract
This paper deals with vector to raster conversion. Segments of buildings are lost on maps at small scales. It comes from raster output devices. This paper proposes a model of segments on raster devices and estimates the probability of lost segments. Then it calculates the probabilities for 1-ken (Japanese traditional unit of length) and data of buildings in Hyogo Prefecture. The result shows that the current standard of map drawing needs revises for the use of urban planning.
