Abstract
This experiment was carried out to observe the growth of young seedling of rice plants in different seeding density, using a rice plant variety called Nomin No. 21. The Plots of seeding density were 100,200 and 300g per nursery bed, which was the wooden box of 60 × 30cm width and 3cm depth, filled with paddy soil. No fertilizers were apllied. The results obtained were summarized as follows ; (1) Under the sparse density, the seedlings increased in plant height, number of leaves and number of roots, but the leaf area index decreased. (2) There were not the significant effects of the seeding density on length of leaf-sheath and leaf-blade of the 1st leaf. (3) The coefficient of variation of plant height and length of 2nd leaf-blad increased at the denser seed-plot. (4) Alubumen of seeds disappeard at the 1.8th or 2nd leaf stage. It took 18 days after sowing on the plot of seeding density of 100g per nursery bed. On the plots of 200g and 300g, it took 22 days.
