A new method of a rapid differentiation of lymphatic and myeloid leucocytes in the spinal fluid is described. The method is an application of the peroxidase reaction (copper method) to the counting chamber. Myeloid elements are stained blue, while lymphatic cells appear simply red on account of the nucleus-staining safranin. Thus, the differentiation is accessible even to a laboratory technician not specially trained for the cytologic work.
