Abstract
The effects of Trasylol® (Bayer) on the action of muscle relaxants and the serum cholinesterase activity were investigated in view of controversial opinions on the question. Studies were carried out in man anesthetized with nitrous oxide-oxygen and halothane. The results revealed that Trasylol in doses of 25, 000 to 30, 000 K. I. units, when given intravenously, exerted no effect on d-tubocurarine block, while the same dose of Trasylol produced a slight transitory potentiation of succinylcholine block. Trasylol in doses of 25, 000 to 50, 000 K. I. units did not affect the serum cholinesterase activity. From the results obtained an interaction between Trasylol and muscle relaxants seemed to be clinically insignificant.
