Med., 1982, 138 (4), 443-444-By the determination of cadmium in 556 blood samples from the inhabitants of non-polluted areas, it is evidenced that the blood cadmium is low in infants (ca. 1.5-2.0ng/ml) and gradually increases to reach a plateau level (3.5- 4.0ng/ml) at the ages of 40's to 50's, that the female values (ca. 4.0ng/ml) are higher than the male values (ca. 3.5ng/ml) among non-smoking adults, and that the smoking habit elevates the cadmium level by 1.0-1.5ng/ml.
