1. The b-behavioured rabbits (=of the low detoxicating liver power) show a very remarkable decrease of the blood CO2 content (30 minutes) after the intraperitoneal injection of 3.1% commercial ammonium carbonate in 10 c.c. per kilo.
2. The f-behavioured animals (=of the high detoxicating liver power) show a slight increase because of it.
3. The b-behavioured animals, if a sufficient number of units of yakriton has been subcutaneously injected 5 minutes previous to the ammonium carbonate injection, will become f-behavioured instantly. And not only their CO2 content does not show a decrease, but shows a considerable increase, a greater than in the case of naturally f-behavioured animals.
4. Bicarbonate, glucose or physiological saline solutions exert no appreciable influence either on the b-behavioured animals or on their CO2 content.
5. Yakriton keeps the blood CO2 content constant or in an “ideal” state.
