Epinephrine Secretion and Blood Sugar Content in Dogs after Chloralose

The suprarenal vein blood was collected, as usual, from nonfastened, non-laparotomized dogs. Before chloralose no anaesthesia was used. Epinephrine was determined by the rabbit intestine segment method. The blood sugar and the mean arterial blood pressure were measured simultaneously.
(1) Chloralose never accelerated the epinephrine output velocity from the suprarenal gland, but tended to reduce in virtue of reducing the blood flow through the gland.
(2) Chloralose induced hypoglycaemia.
(3) Chloralose never produced a definite elevation of the mean arterial blood pressure.
