It was attempted to induce anaphylactic shock in normal dogs, non-fastened and non-anaesthetized, recording the mean arterial blood pressure and collecting blood samples for sugar determination.
In some cases quite a transitory and slight decrease occurred first and then soon the hyperglycaemia appeared. When the hyperglycaemia started, the dog was already in the depressant state and the arterial pressure began to recover from the fall. In the cases of moderate severeness the hyperglycaemia rapidly reached its highest level and disappeared commonly within half an hour to one and a half hours, when the blood pressure had not yet completely recovered the initial height. In the cases of severe poisoning the animals died with the development of a profound depression, low blood pressure and low blood sugar concentration, which replaced the hyperglycaemic spell.
