Abstract
By introducing a known quantity of cold water into the stomach through the stomach fistula, previously prepared, a heat debt of 1.3-2 Cal. per kilo of body weight was established in cats before and after the inactivation of the suprarenal medulla. One suprarenal capsule was removed, and the other denervated.
Shiverings occurring thereupon were of similar intensityandduration before and after.
Similar conclusion has also been reached from the experience on dogs, which were also cooled in the same manner as to occasion a heat debt of 1-2.2 Cal. per kilo.
