In the experiments extending over two years, the male rabbits, which were fed with tofukara and lived one week in the laboratory room, have yielded the following data.
(1) The average value of the blood sugar level (Bang's micromethod, 1913) was 0.11%. In the majority, it was 0.10-0.12%. No seasonal variation was detected.
(2) The glycogen content of liver (Bierry and Gruzewska's method) in 151 rabbits was on an average 3.3%. In the majority of examples, it was between 2% and 4.5%. It underwent a seasonal variation; i. e. it was definitely smaller in June and July in both the years.
The glycogen content of mm. sacrospinati was on an average 0.6%, and in a great number 0.4-0.8%. No seasonal variation was seen.
(3) The total epinephrine content of both the suprarenals (Kodama's modification of Folin, Cannon and Denis' method) in 148 rabbits was on an average 0.44 mgrm. (0.15-1 mgrm.), and in the majority 0.2-0.6 mgrm. In other words, it was on an average 1.1‰(0.5-2.5‰), in the majority 0.7-1.7‰.
The epinephrine content of suprarenals seems less between June and September and greater in February and March, thought one must refrain from pronouncing quite definitely on the matter.
