This study aimed to clarify the connection between adult manipulation tactics, own interpersonal
stressors, and life satisfaction. A total of 350 adults responded to the following scales: manipulation
tactics used in everyday life, interpersonal stressors, life satisfaction, and multidimensional perceived
social support. Path analysis revealed that “coercive manipulation” and “deceptive manipulation” were
positively associated with interpersonal stressors, whereas “frank manipulation” was negatively associated
with interpersonal stressors. “Frank manipulation” and “coercive manipulation” were positively
associated with life satisfaction. Correlation analysis indicated that “frank manipulation” was positively
correlated with perceived social support. This study suggested that frank manipulations are adaptive.
