EQUIVARIANT INDEX OF DIRAC OPERATORS

Atiyah-Hirzebruch's rigidity theorem is derived from the index theorem for families of elliptic operators and vanishing theorem of Lichnerowicz type. Using this method we show the relative version of the rigidity of the Dirac operators.
