The authors have been investigating heavy-metal-adsorption property of several gels in order to put them into practical use as environmental purification materials; in the investigations, they have been demonstratmg the gels' large heavy-metal adsorbing capabilities. In the present study, the authors have measured the heavy-metal-anion capturing amounts of acrylamide/dimethylaminoethylacrylatemethylchloride gel and have compared with those of the acrylamide/dimethylaminoethylmethacrylatemethylchlonde gel reported in the previous study. From the experimental results observed in the present study, it has been verified how the structural change affects the ion-capturing efficiency even though the structural alteration occurs far from the positions of the functional groups where the adsorption process is taken place.
