New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) is expected to be innovative tools in the realm of food safety assessments, which enhance efficiency, reliability, and ethical considerations compared to traditional approaches. In addition to promising faster and more efficient toxicity testing. While the definition of NAM is broad, it covers a wide range of methods, including in silico, quantitative structure–activity relationship, machine learning models, artificial intelligence, and in vitro, high-throughput screening bioassays, omics applications, cell cultures, organoids, microphysiological systems. The major challenge for adoption of NAMs in current regulatory is demanding robust validation, standardization, and regulatory acceptance to ensure their credibility and widespread applicability. Especially for repeated-dose toxicity, with particular reference to the chronic toxicity, and Reproductive and developmental toxicity, paradigm shift must be need for the implementation of NAMs in regulatory risk assessment which relies on animal testing. To achieve, collaborative efforts spanning across scientific disciplines, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders is required. This presentation explores the dynamic landscape of employing NAMs within food safety assessments, examining the challenges and discuss future perspectives for their effective integration.
