Research on the number of port calling of container ships

Abstract

The amount of handled containers has been the only principal index that indicates the world container data at each port. This paper proposes the new indices ; those are the number of port calling of container ships and the capacity of calling container ships at each port. In these new indices, Japan and Japanese ports place at high rank, compared with the ranking of handled container. The reason of this gap of ranking between new index and old one are analyzed.
