Development of National Transport Database in South Korea

Abstract

Accurate and uniform national data is indispensable for the formulation of national economic plans and national development plans. Similarly, uniform national transport data is needed for transport development plan. Data collection carried out by various organizations independently lacks consistency and is costly and inefficient. In order to deal with such issues, a development project for a national transport database (NTDB) was started in South Korea in 1998. In this paper, NTDB project in South Korea is introduced.
