Abstract
The Great East Japan Earthquake and the associated Tsunami destroyed sustainability of
the vast area in Japan. The environment and the energy supply network have been heavily damaged by
the earthquake, the tsunami and the radioactive discharges from the nuclear power plant. The recovery
actions for the damages and the prevention to anticipated similar disasters in the near future are the
most urgent tasks in every field of science and technology. TRAFST kicked off the special project
combatting the disasters in three fields. This paper summarizes the activities ofWorking Group C on
“Reinforcement in Environmental Conservation and Resilient and Robust Energy Supply Systems.”
