Abstract

Many of serious left ventricle failure patients suffer from right ventricle disease, therefore, right ventricle assist blood pump is necessary for bridge to transplantation. Moreover, the designing of the right ventricular assist centrifugal blood pump by conventional pump design method is difficult, as the specific speed is low, as well as the left ventricular assist centrifugal blood pump. In the present study, the shape of the right ventricular assist centrifugal blood pump, which has gradual pressure drop characteristic within the range of adult blood flow rate, was investigated by the CFD analysis. As a result, it was found that suitable pressure for assisting the right ventricular by adopting appropriate volute and vane shape is obtained, and the maximum pump efficiency is about 45%, which doesn't increase even if various vane shapes are changed.
