Abstract
This paper aims to examine the relation between the theory and positive analysis in the sociological research through analyzing the landscape problem. First of all, people’s idea concerning the landscape problem is clarified from the survey data. Second, we clarify that we should not analyse the landscape problem from the viewpoint of social dilemma but from the viewpoint of property right. Third, through analyzing the survey data, we clarify that citizen’s opinions are divided about who has the right of landscape and which right has the priority.
After all, through the process of this analysis, we resulted in the following views about the relation between theory and positive analysis. When we analyze social phenomenon, the sociological theory does not offer a tool but a framework for analyzing the phenomenon. We are able to understand and define the phenomenon using the sociological theory.
