A Note on High-Fidelity Subband Codingof Very High Resolution Images

Abstract

Aiming at efficient high-fidelity coding of high resolution images, the work herein presents a rate-adaptive subband coding algolithm where each subband is quantized with the proper quantizer that is adaptively chosen from among different types of quantizers for every subblock. This paper compares our coding scheme with other coding schemes in coding performance, and also discusses several types of filters for subband splitting/reconstruction.
