Abstract

In low-rate tarnsmission of image sequences, it is important to compactly code the extracted motion information. However, the practically used codecs do not regard the quantity of motion information during the process of motion estimation. In this paper, we propose a new motion estimation method utilizing shape-preserving energy, which constrains the displacements to reduce the quantity of motion information.
