Consideration of performance on HDTV cascade coding/decoding

Abstract

Picture quality of cascade coded/decoded image is evaluated. Computer simulations using a JPEG-based HDTV coding show that the decoded picture quality is degraded when block boundary is shifted from the previous location. We considered an effective method of compensating the shifting in order to avoid the picture degradation.
