Development of High Efficiency Multilevel QAM MODEM

Abstract

In the digital transmission of high bit rate Hi-Vision signals, it is necessary to have a high efficiency multilevel digital modulation. NHK has developed a test set of 59.94Mbps multilevel QAM MODEM for a microwave link and coaxial CATV. This paper especially describes a pilot carrier injection method for easy carrier recovery.
