Atmospheric optical communication using signal procesing technique in digital VTR

Abstract

We have beed studying atmospheric optical communication(AOC) and developing an optical Field Pick-up(FPU). We noticed that the mechanism of generating errors in AOC is similar to that in magnetic recordings. By applying digital processing technique used in the digital D-3 format VTR, we succeeded to recover completely transmission errors (10^<-2> to 10^<-3> in bit rate) after error collecting and concealing.
