Abstract

This report describes a new rate 10/12 MSN code for PRML system in a high density digital magnetic recording. The result shows that a proposed MSN code for PR(1,0,-1)ML provides about a 0.9dB advantage compared with the conventional rate 8/10 MSN code at a symbol-error rate of 10^<-4>.
