Abstract
In this paper, I will attempt to account for the relationship between take in vehicle or path take someone somewhere construction and more basic sense of take. I will argue that take in someone take vehicle construction is central and that each of the other senses of take in vehicle take someone somewhere construction and path take someone somewhere construction can be seen as a minimal variation either of the central sense or of another sense in the network of take which will be dealt with in this paper. It is not arbitrary how the same word take is used in these senses. There are generalizations governing the relationships among these senses.
