The goal of this study is to identify specific characters of the havinng no communication with their neighbors in the quake-stricken areas and discuss the management of the living environment giving consideration for the having no communication with their neighbors. Questionnaire was the principal method used for this study.
The following results were obtained; 1) having no communication with their neighbors are mostly those who moved in from other areas after the earthquake, youngsters, full-time employees, those who are dissatisfied with current neighborship and those who consider that neighborship is insignificant. 2) Highly having no communication with their neighbors want to join community activities that would promote friendship. 3) The residents look to the young generation for living reconstruction. Therefore, it is necessary to spread awareness of the importance of communities among the young generation by way of public activities. Such public activities may include maintenance or improvement of the living environment with an additional purpose of developing friendship.
