In the warm seep site at the Minami-Ensei Knoll, 700 m deep, west of the Amami-Oshima Island, southern Japan, an unusual gastropod of the Family Turbinidae was collected by the Submersible Shinkai 2000. The description of this gastropod, Thermocollonia jamsteci gen. et sp. nov. is given. This may be the first discovery of the turbinid gastropod at a hydrothermal vent site.
