Abstract
The alkaline phosphatase activity of serum, which is one of the valuable indicators for estimating the severity of rickets, was determined following the progression of rickets of albino rats. From the X-ray examination, there has been seen the three stages in rickets, that is, the progressing, stational and worsening. At the first and the third stages, the alkaline phosphatase activity seemed likely to be elevated, but decreased to the normal level at the second or the stational stage. It is considered that the alkaline phosphatase activity of serum is not parallel to the severity of rickets, but rather indicates whether the progress in rickets is active or not.
