Abstract
The small intestine was isolated from a guinea pig and 4 parts of the intestine (1,2,3 and 4), in the length of 15cm each, were prepared. Each preparation of the intestine was washed with Tyroid solution and ligatured at both ends. The solutions, as listed in the following table, were introduced into the lumen of the prepared intestines, then kept them in Tyroid solution at 38℃ for 30 minutes. The riboflavin content of the intestinal wall of each preparation was estimated with the lumiflavin method. Both total and esterified riboflavins in the intestinal wall were significantly increased when the solution in the lumen of the intestinal preparation contained ursodesoxycholic acid. No. of intestinal Preparation Composition of solutions in the lumen 1 Riboflavin 50μg/ml, 1.0ml+0.5ml of 0.5% solution of bile acid in N/50 NaOH 2 Aq.distil. 1.0ml+0.5ml of 0.5% solution of bile acid in N/50 NaOH 3 Riboflavin 50μg/ml, 1.0ml+0.5ml of N/50 NaOH 4 Aq.distil. 1.0ml+0.5ml of N/50 NaOH
