Abstract
Constituents of the lipids in the impregnated chick eggs during incubation and the young chicks after hatch were studied. The results are as follows : 1) Embryo synthesized both sterol and ubiquinone (UQ-50) during incubation. The hatched young chick contained UQ-50 over five times as much as the UQ originally found in the yolk (FIG. 8). 2) UQ content (μg/wet wt. g) of liver heart and digestive organ in the young chick was very high (TABLE. 3.). 3) Tocopherol content in the yolk gradually decreased during incubation (FIG. 5.) and ratios of increment of UQ to decrement of Toc in each term were not constant (TABLE. 2.).
