Abstract
Influence of DL-penicillamine (PeA) on the carbohydrate metabolism in liver of rat was investigated. Rats administered PeA were decreased in liver glycogen content and phosphorylase activity. Glucose-6-phosphatase which is known to be induced by cortisone was high in the liver of rats on PeA-containing diet. Rats treated with PeA were decreased in CO_2 generation from glucose by liver slices and in the activity of glucokinase which is known to be one of key enzymes participating in glycolysis and induced by insulin.
