Abstract
The fat-soluble vitamins are tended to be stored in internal organs and tissues of the human body and they or their metabolites function directly or indirectly in various mctabolic pathways. Thus, we have focused the attention on interactions of pharmacological action of mainly antioxidant fat-soluble vitamins. Since antioxidant action is based on redox reaction by electron transfer, physiological and pharmacological actions of antioxidant vitamins are expected to be different by intake of vitamins with different redox potentials. The results of clinical examinations, nutritional search and in vitro test are suggested that we must consider on biochemical theory about redox potentials of each component of vitamins in evaluating antioxidant pharmacological effects.
