Abstract
In the previous report it was demonstrated that both folic acid and vitamin B_<12> improved the lowered renal function in renal and hepatic diseases. This paper is concerned with comparative studies of the two vitamins in the same patients. Folic acid (30 to 60 mg) and vitamin B_<12> (30γ) were separately administered to 11 patients with renal or hepatic diseases accompanied by decreased glomerular filtration rate. The filtration rate was determined 2,4 and 6 hours after the adminstration of each vitamin. Vitamin B_<12> increased both the filtration rate and the urine flow more markedly than folic acid did.
