The theoretical study on transient vibration of stern body structure due to wave impact pressure acting on remarkably flaring aft body has been carried out. In the present paper, the stern body structure of car ferry (L_<pp>=151m) was simplified into the three dimensional frame work constructed by three equivalent transverse rings and six equivalent longitudinal members, and the wave impact pressure on aft bottom due to relative motion between aft body and wave surface surface was estimated by Wagner's theory. The calculation of transient vibratory response was made at Froude number 0.15 in the regular head wave of wave length 147m and wave height 7m. As a result of calculation, maximum transient vibratory stress amplitude at peak to peak induced in aft frame work structure attains the stress level of 3kg/mm^2. This stress level possibly raises problem that induces fatigue damage at the points of stress concentration.
